Home Math 103 - Lesson 5
Classes

This week we will have our first test.  You can find the test here, and on the schedule page, and on the classes page.

Assignments:
4.4:    163, 173, 179, 183
4.5:    197, 203, 205, 209, 211, 219, 223, 227
4.6:    233, 239, 243, 247, 249, 259
4.7:    293, 297
5.1:    1, 7, 21, 33, 43, 59, 63

Section 4.4 takes systems of equations one step further, and introduces systems of three equations with three variables.  In this section you solve them the same way you did in 4.1.  In 4.5, another method of solving is introduced:  Gaussian and Gauss-Jordan elimination using matrices.  Determinants are introduced in 4.6, along with yet another method of solving:  Cramer's Rule.  In 4.7, you graph systems of two linear inequalities with two variables.  Chapter 5 is all about polynomials.  In 5.1, we start with adding and subtracting, along with some vocabulary.

Here are videos on Larger systems of equations part 1 and part 2, Gaussian elimination, determinants, Cramer's rule for 2x2 and 3x3 systems,  and systems of linear inequalities.

When you are finished, turn the homework in here at the bottom of the page.  Due dates are on the schedule.
